Completely, totally and utterly OT: Picture It Photo & Print Studi

M

Miss P.T.

Yes, I know the app in the subject's ancient (released towards the back-end
of 2001, IIRC) but ISTR that the images and clip-art were of very high
quality and I'd like to access it for general usage (i.e. in Publisher and
PagePlus X2).

I have installed PIP&PS no probs, and can launch it but, when I attempt to
open any project (whether blank or predesigned) I am, rather unceremoniously,
without the merest hint of an error message, dumped back to the desktop. Now,
I am thinking that, when it was first released, XP (I'm running Home SP2) was
still either in beta, or had just been released, which is probably the cause
of my woes. Now, M$, as is its wont, has encased the images and clips inside
proprietary 'sbs' and 'sbt' archives (it's the former that actually contain
the needed - the latter just look like some kind of 'pointer' file).

So, I suppose my question is twofold: -

1) Can I persuade PI to open its own projects

and/or

2) Is there any way of extracting the images from within the 'shoebox' files
(I did find something called 'xtractor.exe' but that doesn't appear to want
to run outside of PIP ('unable to decompress the package due to corrupt
archive.' I've no idea what it means by 'corrupt archive' - I assume it's
referring to itself).

I am attempting to design a flyer for a friend's chocolaterie - and am
wanting to do it the lazy way!

Any chance of this working; or am I, as I suspect, SOL?

*I believe this was called Picture It Publishing 2002 in the US/Canada.

Cheers my little chickadees,

P.T.

P.S. Sorry if this appears twice - IE crashed when I attempted to post it
the first time!

The following site has lots of clips you may
find to be useful:

MS Clip Art and Media
http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/clipart/default.aspx

The PI2002 compressed files are only
compatible with PI2002.

To acquire the clips...open them in PI2002 and
save them in a folder or copy / paste into a
different app.

As for your problem running Picture It! 2002...
