Complex Reports- which way to go?

Dear All

I'm stumped. I am trying to produce 3 reports. Each reports is 30-50 pages
long but most of this is static text. Each report is based upon a client
recordset but also contains graphs and tables of data from other queries
within the database.

My first thought was to merge to Word due to the amount of static text and
Words easier formatting, and insert the tables and graphs as objects. I tried
to work around this using snapshots but this is also not going too well (see
seperate thread).

My second choice was to try and generate these as Access rpt 's but this is
very messy. Due to the limitations of report size and trying to work around
this using numerous subrpts. The formatting of the text also lets it down. (e.
g. justifying text). I am looking into the Lebans options but this could also
be mammoth and lead to creating huge tables to populate the larger number of
ActiveX controls that this would require.

Option three would be to split the report into a mail merged document and
manually insert some pages created as Access rpts. This will then complicate
the creation of a table of contents and I do not think this proposal will be
generally well received.

Any thoughts and suggestions based upon similar experiences welcome.

Thanks
