I can't believe that noone challenged you on this one. I've used Frontpage
for several years, I've owned and used every version except for 2003 and I'm
sorry but I have to call a *bullsh*** on you.
Frontpage is one of the worst when it comes to standards compliance. There
are products like Homesite which produce standards compliant code.
Additionally Homesite ships with Tidy which validates against the w3
standards at the click of a button - so if you do anything to screw up the
page you can clean it up and see where it failed. Dreamweaver and GoLive
also can produce standards compliant code and have the added benefit of
being extensible so that you can add new tags or correct tags that may be
broken in their implementation.
Luckily Frontpage can be extended via VBA to include Tidy support it's just
too bad that it's not already included and the developer has to make all the
effort. It takes much more work in Frontpage to produce standards compliant
code than it does almost any other product (although it's not impossible).
If the operator knows about standards, then they can use FP to produce
pretty compliant code. If the operator does not know about standards, then
anything they use will produce non-compliant code, including DW and HS.
