Compress .jpg files within powerpoint 2004 mac

pc

I am making a presentation using Powerpoint 2004 for mac.
I insert photos, then resize and crop within powerpoint, however the powerpoint file becomes seriously huge- like 100MB!
Is there a way to compress the images within powerpoint- i know where it used to be on PC version but cant find it on mac!

Thanks in advance

Is there a way to compress the images within powerpoint

I really wish we had that, but unfortunately, no we can't.
Please use the Send Feedback command in the Help menu in PPT to let MS
know you'd like to have it,

....In the meantime - and (IMHO) all the time - you might consider finalizing
your images with a decent graphics program before inserting them. Leaving
"compression" in the hands of another program only resolves a part of the
problem & can create others:)

If you don't already have a good graphics app you might check this one out -
at US $29.95 it's a steal:

Image compression (to reduce file size) has always been available in Powerpoint for Windows. It can be found in the 'format picture' options. Yet it is still missing from Powerpoint for Mac 2008 so anyone upgrading from 2004 may be disappointed. The difference is puzzling.
