Hi Peter,

which PowerPoint version do you use? In PPT 2002 and 2003 you'll find this
button in the dialog box "Format | Format picture".

Additionally, you should have a look at:
Why are my PowerPoint files so big?

Kind regards,

Depends which version of PowerPoint you are using. In the
latest versions click on any image to highlight it and then
on the picture toolbar choose "compress images". For
maximal effect choose all images, web/screen and both options.

If the picture toolbar is not visible, right-click on any
toolbar and select it from the available list.

If you are using an older version of PPT this function is
not available, but you can try out NXPower Lite at
http://www.nxpowerlite.com/ or see
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptools/FAQ00013.htm

Hope this helps. It is better to optimise your images
before you insert them into PowerPoint.

Thank you for your answers

I know this toolbar, but my users either dont't know it or forget it. So I
want to automaticise it with a prominent placed button or even better at the
Close_Event. But I don't find the VBA-Commands for that. Any idea?
