Compress pictures

I created a Word document that had several photos in and tried to keep the
file small - it ended up over 8M. Someone pointed out that there is a
'Compress Picture' button on the Picture toolbar on Office 2003 and this
reduced the file to 766k.

I would like to make it so my users are forced to save in compressed mode,
or at least are given the prompt to save in compressed mode whenm they save
or close an Office file. Can I do this?

This capability isn't built-in but with a little VBA you can do what
you want. You may want to post this in one of the Word VBA newsgroups
and see if they can head you in the right direction.
