Compressing Audio Files

I have a 30 minute audio message a client wants added to his website. I have been unable to compress the audio file to a size small enough that it doesn't take forever to load. Any suggestions on how I can compress this audio without compromising listening quality and still load quickly?

Have you considered using streaming audio so
that it will start playing before it is fully downloaded?
The lowest quality .wav file uses 8kb per second and
would a 14.4mb file to run 30 minutes.

mp3 would be smaller and a midi file smaller yet
if either are an option.

You can get streaming media encoders for MS at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/encoder/default.aspx

You can also get encoders for RealNetworks Real player at
http://www.realnetworks.com/products/producer/basic.html

Hope this helps,
