I believe you mean when you tried to Compact the DB. Compression is
done by programs like WinZip and their ilk.
The problem sounds like a corrupt db. Try copying all the db objects
into an empty database. Create the empty db and then just use the File
Get External Data > Import... the corrupt db's objects: tables,
queries, forms, etc. Then try the compact again.
