I have a short video in AVI format that is about 30 MB that I need to post
on a web site. . Is there a way to
convert or resample it to something with less resolution in order to make it
smaller?
My ISP storage limits are close to the limit and won't allow the 30 MB file
without paying for an upgrade.

I can live with less resolution more than paying for more space.

I could also edit out parts of the video to make it smaller if someone would
recommend software to accomplish this.

The ISP will accept mpeg, avi, mpg and mov formats.

I have already converted to mov and mpg but just a straight conversion does
not change the size appreciably.

Thanks, GWB

Don't do a straight conversion- lower the bitrate and/or
size

there's an app at www.coffeecup.com (video player) that does a decent job of
it.
someone just turned me on to www.flowplayer.sourceforge.net today and it'll
either do it or you'll find a link to some recommended programs that will.

I converted it to a flash file using Color 7 Video convertor. The original
was about 30 mb and the flash file was about 7 MB and looks just fine. I am
still looking for something that would allow me to edit the avi or wmv file
to drop out the undeeded stuff.

Thanks for your help.

windows movie maker which you should already have will help you edit the
..wmv.
There are tons of video editors out there. Is there something in particular
you're looking for?

I guess I should pay more attention to what is on my system. I never
noticed windows movie maker before. I'll give it a shot.

Thanks, GWB
