Ok I'll try.
First I have to scream at you though. BACKUP BACKUP
BACKUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get yourself some backup software suck as Disk Image or Acronis Backup.
Better yet get Norton Ghost 2004 or 2005 and you will have an exact copy of
your hard drive and can put it back the just way it was before the mishap.
(Don't ever count on system restore,it stinks)
Next move the "my doccuments" folder directly to the C: drive and better yet
if you have another partition put it all there.
The my doccuments folder is the worst place to put anything your really
want to keep. Besides all that junk in there slows down defragging and
searches but I wont go into moving swap files and temp directories.
Have you tried searching .jpg or .tiff or what ever format they were in? Or
searching part of the file name such as the popular Dsc???
You can try a file recovery tool but I will warn you that if you did delete
them and they have been over written for you they are pretty much gone.
If they are worth that much to you Drive Savers recovers information
starting at $400 and up. And I mean way up! These guys have gotten $100,000
to recover one drive.
