Computer hardware - availability

Is there a way to create a project schedule and use computer hardware
as the resource? I have been asked to add a list of computer hardware
to our resource pool. Our operations manager wants to create a project
that determines availability of our computer hardward - therefore he
wants a list of computer hardware entered into the resource pool. Any
ideas on the best way to do this?

I believe you can create a "material" (as opposed to "Work" resource) to build
your list...

Pat:

Whether you should use Material or Work resources depends on how you intend
to apply the resource to the plan. For instance, a testing lab or system is
something you might want to model as a work resource so you can schedule it
and track over-allocations. If you're buying servers to support an
application deployment, you'd most likely want to enter this as materials
that the project consumes.
