computer likes to type

I'm running windows XP professional with office XP. In word, excel outlook
express etc. if I leave the curser for a moment the computer starts to type.
Always using english words although not making much sense eg "of the were no
way I a lot of way I can I knew the way the for a very for the were on the
way they were they were the the way the am I a a her a". This is not stuff
from the clipboard, and will do it anywhere, even in address bars, passwords
etc.
I use AVG free edition which is updated daily and a virus scan shows that no
viruses are present.
Anyone got any ideas??? (apart from re-loading everything.)

If you are using speech recognition, turn off your microphone when not using
it as it is picking up random noises (music?) and typing it.

That happened to me one time, but trust me, I was not making the noises that
the computer was typing.. :)
