Computer locking up

When trying to open files by way of the Open Icon in Word or Exell, Computer
locks up for a very long extended period.. Sometimes we get a Not Resonding
error.. I can open files from the side icons, but when i try to use the arrow
up at the top to expand the subject bar, it freezez.. Any help??

Hi, Neil,

You don't mention what, if anything, you have tried to resolve the issue, so
I'll suggest some basic things to try:

Clean out your temp folder (c:\temp, c:\windows\temp or c:\winnt\temp)
Run a scandisk
Run a disk defragmenter
Reboot your computer
Check that you have ample memory and virtual memory

If that doesn't help, re-install Office.

If that doesn't help, post back here with what version of Office and Windows
you are running.

Not sure how to reinstall Office as it came preinstalled in my system..
Running Windows XP Pro and Office 2003

Ahh, I see. You'll want to contact the computer manufacturer for
assistance, then. They are responsible for supporting the software that
they install.

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.
