COMPUTER NOTIFICATION

I would like to set up a tracking system for resource material (books) so
that if someone was to take one out they would be given a return date and the
computer would notify me (or the person looking after the tracking) when a
book was due back. Is this something that can be done? If so which program
would be best and any set up hints would be great.

Hi, Pat,

Building such an application would probably require knowledge of
programming, or the services of a programmer.

Excel or Access can be used to keep a database of items, but the
notification bit would require some custom work.

What you could do is use something like Outlook to create a task for each
checkout. Those tasks can have due dates that then show up on your
calendar.

That's a very simplified solution, but it may meet your needs (not knowing
more about your customers, resources, or computer capabilities).

You might also look around for a low-cost or freeware software that someone
else may have already created to do the same type of thing.
