concatenate

If i have two cells, one that says "John" and one that
says "Smith", can I use the concatenate function for these
two cells where the output would be "jsmith". John +
Smith = jsmith. I just want the first letter of the first
name and merge it with the last name. Is there another
formula for this or am i out of luck?

Try using this:
=LOWER(LEFT(A2,1)&RIGHT(A2,LEN(A2)-FIND(" ",A2,1)))

Sorry. I didn't read your post correctly. I thought the name was all in one
