Concatenated Custom Field Values

L

Lisa

When I add a drop down list to a customized Outline Code
and display this in PWA, it always concatenates the value
with the field name. For instance, I customized an
Outline code for Project Status with the values of Active,
Completed, On-Hold, etc. When this field is used on a PWA
view, the value shows: Project Status.Active and Project
Status.Completed.

Does anyone know of a way to not display the concatenation?

Thank you in advance for any assistance,

It sounds like you have set up a two level outline code field and have a
value on the first outline level called Project Status in your field. Could
this be the source of your problems?

Dale,

That is correct, actually the example is a 3 tiered level
outline code. We actually have 2 types of statuses:
Opportunity and Project and we used 1 outline code and
separated the statuses between Opportunity and Project.
It appends both the project name and the next level to the
actual field value when it is displayed.

Do you know of a way to keep the structure but only
display the actual value?

Thank you

By default, outline code field values display using the concatenated format.
I am not aware of any method to force it to display any other way. Sorry.

Dale,
I think I have the same question. Our RBS has (Lvl)
=Division, (Lvl2)=Dept, and (Lvl3)=Team. I was looking for
a way to use RBS as the basis for a "Team" field that had
a mask to only show the Team (Lvl3)names in the pull down
menu. Looks like this is not possible?

Is there a way to create a view that as part of its'
definition it has a pre-set Group or Filter applied to it?

Sorry to be redundant and beat this to death.
Thanks for the help.

You're not beating this subject to death. I appreciate you and Lisa asking
the questions. So, thanks for asking!

First of all, as I said to Lisa, I know of no default method to force an
outline code field to show only the lowest level of the field. By default,
the field value is the concatenation of the values at all levels.

On the other hand, you can create a filter that uses the "Contains" test to
filter for certain values. When you apply a Group to an outline code field,
the groupings created contain the complete concatenated string. Again, I
know of no way to change this. Hope this helps.
