Has anyone run into a problem moving from hourly timesheets to % complete
timesheets in mid stream of using the server? If so what is your
recommendations?

thanks

Bill --

I believe you will run into the following issues if you change you default
method of tracking in mid-stream:

1. Incomplete tasks with actuals will not be changed by Project Server to
reflect the new method of tracking. Therefore, team members will need to
complete those tasks using the former method of tracking and will need to
enter actuals on all unstarted tasks using the new method of tracking.

2. Project Server makes several assumptions about actual start and actual
finish dates when you use the % Work Complete method. When a team member
enters an initial % Work Complete value, such as 25%, the software assumes
the task started AS CURRENTLY SCHEDULED. Even if the task started late in
actuality, the software has no way of knowing this. When the team member
finishes a task and enters 100% complete, the software assumes the task
finished AS CURRENTLY SCHEDULED. Even if the task finished late in
actuality, the software has no way of knowing this. To get around this
issue, you may wish to include the Actual Start and Actual Finish fields in
your published fields for each project (Tools - Customize - Published
Fields), republish every project using Collaborate - Publish - Republish
Assignments, and then ask your people to enter relevant dates in those
fields.

Just a couple of thoughts. Perhaps the others will have some ideas, too.
Hope this helps.
