Conditional Formatting Greyed Out

I'm using Excell 2007 and want to conditionally format a field. However, the
conditional formatting 'icon' is greyed out and I am unable to access this
ability. Would anyone know some simple reason why I'm not able to access?

You may get relevant answers if you posted the question to a forum or
newsgroup that deals with Excel.
FrontPage uses Internet Explorer Conditional Comments and/or Javascript to
apply conditional formatting to HTML elements.
