Conditional Formatting

I am trying to take a conditional formatted cell and take the formatted color
to another cell. Like if John Doe completed something on 12/15/2009. I
would like to have the formatted color of John Doe's cell carried to the
12/15/2009 cell.

Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure what you are doing, but you can try this:
right-click > copy > paste special > formats > OK
