Configure Access 2000

I purchased Access 2000 as a single program. I already have Word, Excel,
Powerpoint. It installed "correctly" however it wont open because "The
operating system is not presently configured to run this application". How
do I resolve this?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but I can't think of a reason XP would cause
an issue for you. So, here are the questions I have:

1. Is this a full retail version, or upgrade disc, or academic version?

2. What were the steps you took to install it?

3. Did it give you any messages, other than the normal install dialog, when
you were installing?

4. Did you reboot after installing?

5. Do you have XP Service Pack 2 installed?

6. Does the message you referred to come up immediately upon using the
shortcut to open Access itself, or does it happen when trying to open an mdb
file?

Depending on your answers, it could generate other questions but hopefully
we can get this sorted for you.

I purchased the full retail version on Ebay. Now that I look at the disc
more closely it says "Designed for Windows NT & Windows 98"

The auto start doesn't work (it plays the music but nothing happens) so I
went to Add/Remove software to install. After that didn't work I rebooted.
Obviously that didn't help, so I uninstalled, rebooted, then reinstalled,
rebooted. Each time it said it installed correctly. So I went to programs,
right clicked on the Access icon and choose configure. I had an option to
install or fix. I choose each of those seperately and rebooted after each
one.

The message only appears when I click on the program to open it.

I don't believe I have XP Service Pack 2
