Configure Outlook 2003 / Error 0x800703E7 / POP Incompatibility

Outlook 2003 does not seem to be compatible with Gmail POP settings.

Mozilla Thunderbird works fine, though.

I've gone step by step through the Install process outlined in Gmail
several times to no avail.

Should I try Outlook 2000, or might I be missing something?

Outlook 2003 and 2007 work perfectly with gmail. What are the steps you are following?

I had the same problem. One day outlook worked, then it quit.

When I started to install sp3 for xp, I had two bad files. Not sure i
they were the problem or not.

They were inetcomm.dll in the windows\system32 folder and
wmiprovdll.dll in the windows\system32\wbem folder.

I renamed both files by adding an extension such .old

I also installed sp3 before I tried outlook again. It now works again
I could not install sp3 without renaming the listed files. Window
automatically created another in its place.

This is something you can try anyway.
