Configuring Office applications

Whenever I try to use an Office application, I have to wait while Windows
Installer reconfigures the program. This applies to Word, Excel, Outlook,
etc.

While I am eventually able to use the application without problems, this
enforced delay is very annoying.

Why am I losing my installation between sessions?

operating system.
