Confirm data change on close

Well as I have proved earlier, DoCmd.Close forces the record to save and the
forms Dirty property will therefore always be false by the time the code
reaches the Form_Unload event. I'm happy with the solution I described in my
last response and going to bed now! Thanks for all your help.

Rest well, but the Close does not do what you think it is doing. There has
to be something going on we are not seeing. Believe me, I have done this
before.
