Connect with Project Professional 2007

Hi!

I'm experiencing similar connectivity issues that I've seen others
have in other newsgroups, yet have never really seen a resolution to
any of them.

I'm attempting to connect to a Project 2007 Server using Project 2007
professional. I have a valid account on the Project Server as I am
able to connect to PWA with no issues.

I seem to get getting a SOAP related error similar to the person in <a
href="http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.project.server/
browse_thread/thread/c64ba9c5f7a54f28/fb2ffccf74cbb8ac?
hl=en&lnk=gst&q=Loading+request+into+Soapreader
+failed#fb2ffccf74cbb8ac">this</a> posting.

After applying the registry to get enhanced logging as was suggested
in the previous post, I see the following in the resulting log file:

13:28:38.299 00000ef0 Connecting to server with username
13:28:38.659 00000ef0 Session expired.
13:28:38.659 00000ef0 Error faultcode: 800a1450
faultString:Client:Loading the request into SoapReader failed.
HRESULT=0x800A1450 - Client:Unspecified client error.
HRESULT=0x800A1450
13:28:42.034 00000578 Connecting to server with username
13:28:42.065 00000578 Session expired.
13:28:42.065 00000578 Error faultcode: 800a1450
faultString:Client:Loading the request into SoapReader failed.
HRESULT=0x800A1450 - Client:Unspecified client error.
HRESULT=0x800A1450

Any advice would be welcome....

Thanks!

Paul: Thanks for getting back to me.

It is happening on all devices and is very repeatable. I had not
attempted to reinstall Project professional, but will give that a
shot.

Paul: I did not have any luck connecting to the Project Server after
uninstalling and reinstalling project professional. Is there anything
on the server side I should be looking at?

This has been resolved. Root cause: the URL entered into Project
Professional, despite working in a web browser, was incorrect.

URL that worked in the browser was in the format: http://<server>/pwa/default.aspx
URL that worked in Project professional: http://<server>/pwa

Live and learn.

Yup - I was getting this Project Pro 2007 error: "Client:loading the request
into the SoapReader failed. ID=0x8007005" and this fix just worked for me.
The error message must be related to my using the IP ADDRESS of the project
server instead of the URL, because the URL including 'default.aspx' typically
works in the Project Pro 2007 "Office Project Server 2007 accounts" as well
as for getting to PWA using IE7. Thanks! d.v.v.
