Connected to server

When connected to a server is it possible for my files on my hard drive to be
view by any one? If so, how do I prevent my files from being tampered with?

Thanks

Bob,

I am looking for an honest answer.

Thank you

Can anyone answer my question?

That is the honest answer. It has nothing to do with Microsoft Office an
everything to do with the permissions assigned by the network/server
administrator for the server you attach to.

I work in a very small office without an offical adminstrator. Anyone can
have access to the actual server.

Then ask in a server or O/S newsgroup. This is *not* related to Microsoft
Office software.

Bob,

So it is possible for someone to access the files on my hard drive through
the server if the permissions are assigned to do that?

If the connection is there and the permissions on the computer are such
to share or permit access to the files they can be accessed. You are
given permission to look at files on the "server", in reality the server
is just another computer like yours but specifically set up for many
people to access it. In a "workgroup" setup it is normal to access each
others PC files. In a "domain" setup it would be less likely to be
configured that way. But like I said, it has nothing to do with
Microsoft Office applications which is what this group is for. You would
need to ask the person responsible for setting up your PC.
