Connecting Cell with Lines

I have seen MSExcel printouts that have dotted or solid lines of different
colors connecting different cells in a sheet. Is that something that can be
done in MSExcel or would they have been added outside of MSExcel? If it can
be done in MSExcel, how?

IIRC you can use the drawing button/toolbar to make lines, arrows and all
sorts of goodies available.
The other possibility that occurs to me is that you are seeing the auditing
function (which helps you track which cell is used by what) ... though I've
only seen that in blue.
