Connecting spreadsheet control to pivot table control

This may be a really dumb question, but I'm going to try anyway. I am
trying to use a spreadsheet component as the source for a pivot table
component, but I can't work out how to do it. Is it possible? Am I
missing something obvious? I tried using XMLDATA but that didn't work.

Thanks in advance for any pointers.
