Connection error

K

Ken

I'm sorry if this has been covered but I have users that
receive the following error opening Project Pro 2002 and
connect with Project Server 2003:
There was a problem with the resource
Microsoft Project Server was unable to process the
specified enterprise resource

Any thoughts?

Ken,
I have the same problem with connecting Project Pro 2002 to Server
2003. In my searches I have discovered a few things that can cause connection
problems. These may or may not help.

1. Check Microsoft KB818047 for information on problems with enabling
TCP/IP connections using cliconfg.exe on both the server and client.
2. Also try srvnetcn.exe to do a similar thing for the SQL server component.
3. Ensure MDAC version is 2.7 at least on the client. Upgrades are
available from microsoft as usual. Check versions first using the free config
checker. Search microsoft downloads for - MDAC tool and you should find the
config checker download.

I must admit that, although I have tried these, I am still having
problems with some (why only some ? - I just don't know ) clients running
Project Pro 2002 on W2K.

If you have better answers please let me know.

Cheers,

Rob

Rob:

Win2k users should be at SP3. Verify that this is the case on your
troublesome machines. Also, make sure you upgrade MDAC to 2.8 on these
machines.
