I did the following steps:

1. Open Microsoft Project 2002
2. Click Tools - Enterprise Features - Microsoft Project
Server
Accounts...
3. In the dialog box, click the Add... button
4. Create a valid account and click the Test Connection
button
5. A error message apears: the IE window shows
HTTP 401.1 - Unauthorized: Logon Failed
Internet Information Server Services

Could you help me with this problem?

Hello Cesar,

This error message points to a problem with authenticating your account to
IIS, your web server. By "your account" I mean the account that you are
using to log on to the machine where you are working with Project
Professional. Are you using a domain or local account to log on to this
machine? Can you browse to Project Web Access (PWA) from this machine using
Internet Explorer?

Are you administrator for your Project Server? If so, you could try
allowing anonymous access to your site. This would allow anyone to get to
the Project Server. Of course they would need to have an account on the
Project Server as well to access that data. Here are the steps you would
take to do that.

1) Open the IIS Manager (inetmgr)

2) Expand the Default Web Site and then expand ProjectServer.

3) Click the Isapi folder and right mouse-click PJDBCOMM.DLL file and click
Properties.

4) On the File Security tab, click Edit under "Anonymous access and
authentication
control" and check the Anonymous access check box.

5) Click Edit under "IP Address and Domain Name Restrictions" and Grant
Access.

Depending on your security model, you may not want to leave your web server
with anonymous access turned on. These would be a good troubleshooting
steps, in any event, and may give you some idea about why you are having
problems authenticating to IIS.

I hope this helps.

Good luck,

Mark Shea, MCP
