Connection to Project Server often fails when starting Project2003

I often experience a connection failure when launching Microsoft Project 2003 and choosing my Project Server to connect to. Project stalls with the "Project Server Security Logon" screen partially displayed (continuous clicking can be heard, which I assume is attempted communication with the site). About every third attempts actually succeeds and I can open projects on the server. Testing the connection in the Microsoft Office Project Server Accounts tool always says the connection succeeded, and web access to the project always works too.

Hi Darrick,

How fast is the connection between your machine and the Project Server?
Project Professional is quite bandwith intensive when communicating with a
Project Server, and your problem might be related to this.

100 Mb network. It's a reasonably fast corporate network - we don't experience problems with other, similar things. I doubt that bandwidth is the issue.
