Connection via a WAN (Login dialog)

Hello,
I noticed that on some Project Server 2007 installs, the "Load Summary
resource Assignments" option in the Login dialog is replaced by something
like:
"Connection via a WAN (Features are limited in Build Team)".
What is the origin of this new option and what is its use?

When you can't or shouldn't load Summary Resource assignments, such as when
using the system over slow or high-latency connections, the Build Team tool
isn't able to help you with resource availability and can only match by
skill.
