Connection Woes - second post!

T

Tara Finlay

I have a PM who is an admin as well, who intermittently
gets the 9456 connection error. I followed the MS KB
article http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
scid=kb;en-us;823617 which did not help. I also followed
Gary's book pps. 93-95 - cause 1 (language) didn't apply
and I followed the recommendations for cause 2 (Project
Pro was installed prior to logging on to PSWA for the
first time). Neither of these suggestions solved the
problem. I am desperate. The PM and I both have the exact
same permissions, are running the same OS and the same SP
(Win2K SP3). I have never had this issue. The other PM
reports that she can sometimes find relief temporarily by
rebooting her machine several times.

Any further suggestions or insights would be appreciated!

What I would suspect is a possible driver conflict or
program conflict, etc. that PM has loaded on their client
that you do not have on yours rather than it being a
project issue.

Tara:

I agree with Kevin that this sounds like a problem unique to that particular
workstation. Finding the source might pose a challenge. Let's test this
theory by having the PM logon to another workstation and see if the problem
continues to appear. If we get the expected results, no errors, then start
examining the system. Any foreign unauthorized programs on it like screen
savers or popup blockers? Is MDAC current on the machine? Service packs for
Windows and IE current? Latest versions?
