Connector download error "not a valid win32 application"

How do I fix an error message on my new HP dv5-1150us notebook computer
running Windows Vista Home Premium including the MS Office Student upgrade
pack?

After saving the executable file for the Outlook Connector, I double-click
on it to run and I get the following message:

"...Outlook Connector.exe is not a valid Win32 application"

Burn the download to a CD and install from the CD.

Maybe I did not do it correctly, but I copied the executable file that I had
downloaded to a CD, and then tried to run it from the CD and I got the same
error.

Would you be willing to add more specifics about what I need to do?

Thanks.

I am having the same issue, exactly. I don't think the answer that was
given is good at all, I don't find the reason why burning the file to a CD
and installing from there should work. I still need help.

However, what really amazes me is that I found exactly the same post (same
question, same answer) on several addresses, please check this link:

Can anyone explain to me, just for curiosity, why this is happening?

So bad I have to use Windows @ work. I use Ubuntu @ home and the world
seems so easy...
