Connector line disappearing each time I try to connect addl boxes

I am working on an organizational chart and each time I go to connect
someone, the last connection line disappears. The line just keeps moving
from the last one I did to the next one I am trying to connect. How do I get
it to stop? It did not do this on the initial ones I started with.
