connector line text position

I am able to place a text within the connector line but I'd like to control
its position on the line. Is there a way?

Yes, on the standard toolbar there is a "Text tool icon" 19th from the left
if you using the default set. It's a Bold capital "A" with a down arrow to
the right.
Press the down arrow and select the icon below A letter a circled by an
arrow starting with aas a dashed line. This is the text block control tool.
Then select the object or line . The text block will be selected and you can
move or rotated the text at will.
