I am using Word 2002, and I am trying to connect text boxes, but the

Hi Mary Kay,
The active connectors are only available when you're working inside of a MS Office Drawing Canvas (work area) Insert=>Picture=>New
Drawing will create a canvas.
You can use the autoshape line tool and manually 'group' a line with an autoshape (including a text box) outside of a drawing
canvas.
