Connectors in Word 2003

The Connectors in AutoShape are grayed-out and I can't
figure out how to use them. Do I need
to "enable," "activate," or "install" something to make
them available?

Connectors are enabled only when you are using a drawing canvas. Either
enable this option on the General tab of Tools | Options or use Insert |
Picture | New Drawing to insert a one-time canvas.
