Connectors through text

Hi all,

I have a lot of Shapes with Text in Visio. So, everytime I want to
connect a Shape with Text with another Shape, using the connectors,
the line of the connector goes straight trough my text. But that looks
stupid - so I want the lines to hide under my text. But this cannot be
done by automatic Connectors as Visio doesn't see the text as part of
the shape.

So any of you got an idea, how I make the connectors going around the
text by default?

All the connectors I've tried to add text to don't have the line
visible through the text, even using the automatic connections.
Exactly which connector shape are you using? Does this happen with a
brand new diagram? Which diagram type?

Thank you for your answer...
I think you got my post wrong:
When I am adding text to the connector line, the line will be breaked
to display the text. That is fine!
This is the behaviour I want to translate to other Shapes as well. For
example:
I drag the Server-Shape onto the diagram.
I'm adding the text "Server" to the shape.
I'm adding a connector line at the bottom of the shape which is going
anywhere.
The Line will now go straight trough my shapetext "Server".
In this situation I want to change the behaviour of the line. The Line
should create a gap where the text is displayed nicely OR it just
should start where the text of the Shape ends (Just like the text is a
connection point as well)

Ah, right.
For the server shape(s) do menu Format -> Text -> Text Block
and set the text background t o white.
The for the connector(s) do menu Shape -> Order -> Send to Back

Hi John, those articles seem to be just about connector routing. Are
they the articles you meant?

You can use the Visio text box. With no shape selected, click on the
Text Tool (a capital A), move the cursor over your page and the cursor
will change shape to a cross with a text box next to it. Use this to
draw the size of the box you want, then enter the text.
When finished change back to the Pointer tool.

D'oh, replied to the wrong message, you just can't get the staff these
days!
