Constant database crashing, database is damaged!

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

We have about 45 active users on Entourage 2004 or 2008 and we have been experiencing the same issue across the board. Entourage comes up with an error of "your database is damaged blah blah blah", we have rebuilt, verified and even compacted the database but to no avail. The only way to fix this is to restore from a database backup and then let it resync to catch up.

This happen at least twice a week to random users so all we end up doing is restoring and syncing databases. We have managed to figure that it seems to be something with the size of the database as we have tried everything possible to man, we did discover that on some of the databases if we archived the mail (using outlook as the archive in Entourage is appalling) and bought the database size down to around 4 - 5 GB they work but as soon as the users databases start to grow again we end up at zone one again.

This is starting to get really bad and we can not roll out to the rest of the users (100+) until we have this resolved. HELP!!!

Because of the scope of your problem, I'm trying to escalate this to get you
some help. I suspect it might be more than the regular damaged database
problems.

Other than the warning the database is damaged are you seeing any actual
problems?

A corrupt preference file in your User's --> Library Preferences can cause
this, but again the number of users having problems suggest other issues.

com.microsoft.OfficeNotifications.plist

Have you tried just creating a new Identity and seeing if this will solve
the problem?

There is a script that will autoarchive you might want to check out. It's
broken for Leopard, but on this link it give you a link to a third party
alternative for Leopard.

AutoArchive Exchange Account to "On My Computer"

Move all e-mail older than 60 days (time can be adjusted) from your Exchange
account folders to archive folders within the "On My Computer" folder tree.

I just searched the site for information on this problem. I recently switched from Windows to my first Mac and then imported all my emails to Entourage. In the past week I have received several such warnings about a damaged database. There were no visible problems until today when I'm unable to view the mails in a preview pane. I cannot face the thought of having to spend hours and hours resolving problems of a new piece of software. I just want to use it and get on with my work! Can anyone suggest what I can do, quickly and without having to have broad technical knowledge?
Regards
Nicky

It's a bad idea to add onto someone else's thread. Similar is not the same.

You give no info about what version of Entourage or the OS you are using.
How did you import your info from your PC? Have you updated Office since
installing? Look under About Entourage to see what version you have
installed. Have you tried to rebuild?
