contact bar how to change to bar to show A by itself B by itself

Can I reformat the bar onthe right side of the contacts so that you dont' see
a-c..d-f
etc. I would like to see each letter of the alphabet separate. When you have
a lot of contacts it takes forever to get to the C's or any other letter
that is at the
end of grouping.
