Contact format Question

I received a new laptop over the holidays and have imported all relevant
information and contacts without a hitch. I do have a few questions. Outlook
doesn't seem to format contact phone numbers properly as it does on
installations I have on other computers.

For example, if I type 555 222 5555 or 5552225555 for a contact phone
number, my new laptop installation enters the phone numbers just as entered
above. On my desktop installations Outlook automatically formats these
entries as (555) 222-5555. Is there a setting I'm missing on the latop
install that I need to check-off or modify? Or is a registry setting askew?

On another matter, is there a way to globally set "display as" for contacts
used in emails? Here again, these have all defaulted to simply the email
address and not the full name associated with an individual contact
(jdoeatxyz.com instead of John Doe (jdoeatxyz.com)) as they were in the
import file; it's odd that the import didn't maintain these settings. I've
got lots of contacts and going through and changing each and every one will
be tedious. Is there another setting I've missed or registry hack?

Thanks.
