Contact Search not working

S

SJMP

Outlook 2007 sp2 - when I am in my contacts, If I do a search up in the
address book. It does not return the results. If I do a search using the
search bar in contacts it finds the results being searched for. It seems to
be case sensitive and it was not always like that.

But why would my address book search bar not return the results.

Thanks

Dear Customer,

Thank you for posting.

From your post, I understand you are not able to get result when attempting
to search a Contact in Address Book. Nevertheless, you are able to get the
Contact correctly when searching by using search bar. If I'm off base,
please feel free to let me know.

At this time, would you please let me know whether your Contacts folder has
been added into the Address Book?

Right click the Contacts folder and click Properties, Under the Outlook
Address Book, please ensure the "Show this folder as an e-mail Address
Book" option has been selected

If the "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book" option is dimmed,
please refer to following KB to troubleshoot the issue:

"Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book" check box is dimmed in Outlook
Contact folder properties
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/197577/en-us

In addition, in order to know the issue more clearly, would you please
capture two screenshots regarding the results of the two search methods?
Please send the screenshot to me at (e-mail address removed)

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Mike Shen

The option "Show this folder as an e-mail address Book" is selected. It is
also dimmed.

I removed the Address book and then went back to the Contacts Folder
Properties and was able to select the option above. But Same result.

I have emailed you the screen shots.

Thanks,

Hi Parkis,

Firstly, I apologize for delay in responding your question.

From your description, I understand that the original issue still persists.
In addition, from your another post, I understand the issue does not exist
on other client. At this time, I suggest we attempt the following methods
to troubleshoot the issue:

Step 1: Start the Outlook in Safe Mode to troubleshoot the issue:

You are able to start Outlook in Safe Mode by running command Outlook /Safe

Step 2: Create a new Windows Profile on the problem client computer and
configure the same Outlook profile after logging in the new Windows
Profile to check whether the issue still persists.

If the issue still persists in the new Windows Profile, please Clean Book
and check the issue again:

Step 3: Perform Clean Boot on the problem Client computer to disable
third-party software
=====================================================================
1) Run MSCONFIG.EXE.
2) In the Services tab, click "Hide All Microsoft Services" and click
"Disable All".
3) In the Startup tab, click "Disable All". Click OK. (This will
temporarily prevent third-party programs from running automatically during
start-up.)
4) Restart the computer and login . Does the problem still persist?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Mike

Mike,

Thanks for the reply. I followed your instructions even created a new
profile after rebooting cia Clean Boot.

Same thing. If I do a search for "ILFC" in "Address Book Contacts" it does
not return any results. I think go dow to the "Contacts (Search Results)" do
a search for "ILFC" and it returns two contacts.

Same with the other search. The Address Book seach returns 8 results and the
Contacts Search returns 9 results.

Please help.. In a jam

Mike,

Is there any way to force the Address Book to flush / cache or something for
its search results. I notice that
I am also seeing that when using Contacts Search the results on the lower
left hand corner of outlook will show 9 but sometimes the page where the
results are displayed is blank.

Outlook is acting funky.

Remember this is an upgrade of office from 2003 SP2 to 2007 SP1 - not sure
if this could have anything to do with it.
