Contacts - "Find" & "Search For" cause Outlook crash

Running Microsoft Office 2000 & Windows XP with SP2 installed on 'very high
spec' Dell' Inspiron laptop.

Problem:-

Just recently when using the menu bar search 'box' to look for a contact
across an extensive Contacts list, the Outlook program reports a problem to
be mailed to Microsoft and on clicking OK the complete Outlook programme
crashes and needs to be re-started. The possibility of overload was
considered and the volume of contacts was reduced by 50% but this has not
corrected the fault.

Using the 'find' icon to search sub directories of the Contacts List does
not cause any problems, but any attempt to "search for" or "find" across the
whole contacts list nearly always results in an Outlook crash.

Any advice on correcting this annoying problem would be much appreciated.

What does the event in the event viewer say? It should list two files that
are at fault - something like xxx caused a fault in yyy.

Hi Diane,

I am experiencing the same problem as Tim (Outlook 2000 SP-3, XP
professional SP2, Dell 2400 deskop). For me there are no specifics in the
error message just 'Microsoft Outlook has encountered an error and need to
close). Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Dave
