Content Management?

I have been running a monthly magazine using FrontPage for over a year, but
it is getting too hard to gather Articles from my Writers and publish them
every month. Is there anyway to setup FrontPage such that the Writers can
publish their own Articles (with out a lot of fuss) -- some type of simple
Content Management? Or is there an add-in that does this? Or am I going to
have to go to some other type of system? Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

There are lots of "tools" for different degrees of CMS
- but it depends on your server type and whether you want to buy an existing tool or have one custom coded (server side scripts and
a DB)

I used this:
http://www.virtualedge.co.uk/software.htm
but it's supposedly discontinued. maybe you could contact the creator.

there's also a fairly good one here: www.xigla.com but last time I used any
of that companies scripts they were encoded (vbscript.encode) which wasn't
that big of a deal, but IMHO, a little "rude".

HTH

btw; both of those scripts were in .asp so you'll need to check to see what
kind of server side scripting you can use.

Content Management is a serious issue much in demand these days (preaching
to the choir here huh?) and I know of few solutions that can be integrated
or which interoperate with FrontPage directly. Microsoft Windows SharePoint
Services (WSS) [1] can be used if you are a masochist and intend to destroy
everything you have worked for. Attempting to 'contribute' to a WSS site is
FUBAR and management of WSS sites is out of the question when using a hosted
service that enables its customers to deploy WSS. So unless you have your
own server WSS is not realistic noting for brevity I have not discussed
umteen other WSS issues.

Aside from incomplete scripting solutions or custom development required to
get it right to meet your actual requirements it seems to me that the only
remaining reasonable choice to integrate content from a group of disparate
contributors submitting to a FrontPage website could at this time very well
best be accomplished using Macromedia's Contribute as it can be used with
FrontPage sites but when used with FrontPage sites is not as robust as when
used with DreamWeaver sites. No surprise there. Your writers would also have
to buy Contribute which is inexpensive. Buying into Contribute would enable
contributors to reuse their investment and enable you to weed out morons and
other lames that can not afford the inexpensive price of admission.

I don't think it's the right choice for his intention. CS is more for a
single user or limited type situation. he's in need of some kind of article
manager/ publisher arrangement. I think I remember one like "citidesk"
that's got the type of functionality he's looking for.

Wouldn't that work?
