Continuous hour glass

I'm running XP Office. When using WORD the hourglass
keeps coming on and off every few seconds like it is
trying to save a document. First, It does this even if I
don't have a document up. Second, I thought I had turned
all of the autosave options off in the tool bar. I have
even removed the software and reinstalled it, but it
still continues to do this. It is annoying. What am I
doing wrong?

Do you have Norton installed?.
If so, try turning off the "Office Plugin".

Also, there are some printers (Brother, I believe, that can cause this
(don't ask me why). The solution seems to be installing an updated
driver.
