Contours automatically change from flat to contoured

Hello,

This may be a dumb question; however, we are seeing some issues when
applying actual work via the Resource Usage or Task Usage views. It seems
that once actual work has been entered the default contour "Flat" changes to
"Contoured" and even if you change it back, it does not change the
distribution of work back to where it should be.

Our company recently switched to 2007 and this is when we have started
noticing this change as we starting noticing indicators stating "assignment
work has been edited" (which does not seem so weird ) but the way the
remaining work is distributed was throwing us off and we realized that the
contours are no longer "flat".

Does anyone know what drives the contours? What would make a contour change
automatically? And does anyone have a solution and/or workaround?

What you are seeing is the default behavior of Microsoft Project. When you
manually enter work in either usage View, the software automatically changes
the Work Contour to the Contoured pattern, which indicates you manually
entered the values. There's no sense trying to change it back since this is
default behavior. My advice is to teach your people to live with it. :)
Hope this helps.

Thanks Dale. I guess we were expecting to see Flat as the distribution but
if it is normal then we will have to be okay with it.

Thanks for the feedback!
