Contributor level icons

Why do contributor level icons show up in some Access newsgroups, but not in
others? Do they only apply to selected newsgroups within Access, or to the
Access Newsgroup as a whole?

The icons are not part of the newsgroups at all. They are an additional
feature of Microsoft's (and some other) websites; the websites are custom
programmed front ends to the USENET newsgroups. Many of us prefer to use a
newsreader such as Outlook Express, Windows Mail, Agent, or the like to
interact with the groups, rather than the (relatively slow and clunky) web
interface.

John,

I also prefer Outlook Express, but am unable to use it at work for security
reasons. Sooo, I have found that the Microsoft community discussion groups
works well for me. What I'm trying to figure out is how Microsoft is
implementing these contributor levels in its discussion groups.

For example, I'm a bronze in the Queries group, but don't appear to have a
contributor level in the other Access discussion groups.

I really don't know! I so rarely use the website that I'm not sure how it
works. I suspect it will be looking at the number of posts from
[email protected] in that specific newsgroup, but I'm not certain even of
that.
