controlling audio playback

Does anyone know if it is possible to start, pause, rewind etc an audio file
in a presentation?

save your presentation.

Then if you start the really old media player

start > run > mplay32 (on windows xp)

open your audio file

edit menu > copy object

powerpoint > paste

Then you should have an icon representing your audio file

during a slideshow you can click the object to start the audio, then you
have both a pause and stop button
