Controlling Look of Chart

I have a problem where I have prebuilt pie charts in a report to summarize
sales of differant categories. My problem is when I run a query to change
the data set. the number of categories can change and the chart with it's
leader lines get messed up.

Is there a way to have better control over the leader lines or to include
values in the legend so that the charts/reports don't require tweaking each
time they are run.

I run reports with 4-11 categories.
