Controls from Control Toolbox

Help please! I am working with controls from the Control Toolbox, which when
you add a control i.e. Option button, the following automatically appears in
the formula bar.

=EMBED("Forms.OptionButton.1","")

However when in design mode if you inadvertantly click in the formula bar
like I have (several times!!) you can't escape it. An error message appears
saying "The text you entered is not a valid reference or defined name" the
only way out I can find is to delete the whole formula. Which makes the
control useless.

As I mentioned i have already done this several times!! is there a way to
reinstate the functionality of it without deleting and starting again (I have
one which is multi embedded!) Or if it happens again is there a way to get
out of the formula bar without having to delete. Please any have any ideas?

Unless you actually need these controls, you'd find the alternative controls
in the Forms toolbar are much easier to work with.

Also, FWIW, in Excel 97 I get the error message you mention only when I type
anything in the formula bar. If I escape immediately, nothing happens. If I
modify the formula and enter, I get the error message, but if I then escape
several times the formula returns to its original state. Have you tried
pressing [Esc] several times in succession?
